9 Best Cannabis Podcasts

Podcasting is one of the last media platforms untouched by censorship. Naturally, cannabis podcasts are thriving. Listeners are treated to long-form conversations that are insightful, hilarious, and 420-friendly! It’s no wonder the most interesting people in the world choose podcasts to share stories you wouldn’t hear anywhere else. Time to roll it up with our list of the top cannabis podcasts.

Wouldn’t it be nice to listen to a cannabis podcast that doesn’t always end in a complete stoner ramble or a bong giveaway? Some of us are online to listen to real, substantial cannabis content, you know? There’s nothing more satisfying than doing a long drive with a great podcast coming out of the speakers. Covering distance and learning stuff at the same time: now that’s killing two birds with one stone.

Well, there’s always the risk with a cannabis podcast that the host and the guest might get too high, and the whole thing can crumble to pieces. It’s part of the fun of listening to a cannabis podcast. But before it descends into a scrambled stoner conversation, the listener should at least get some healthy, meaty information to walk away with.

So we’re doing the hard job for you: weeding. Weeding out the stoner slapstick from the really engaging stuff so that you don’t have to waste hours doing it yourself. Thank us later – after you’ve listened to all of the amazing podcasts that we are about to introduce to you.

1. Getting Doug With High

Okay, so maybe some slapstick humour is in order. This podcast doesn’t necessarily send you away feeling like a master of weed, but it should make you laugh. This podcast gets the first spot on the list purely for the guests that the host and comedian, Doug Benson, gets on the show. For those who don’t know, this guy is the creator of Super High Me – that cannabis meets stand up comedy documentary.

While the show is currently on hiatus (perhaps indefinitely), it’s worth checking out the whole catalogue of episodes if you’re into comedy (and into weed). Doug’s had the likes of Jack Black, Sarah Silverman and Tommy Chong on this show. And yes, they basically get high and sit around talking about the first time they got high. What’s not to love?

2. CannaInsider

For those who are more interested in news than the stories of comedians’ first times getting high, CannaInsider is it. Actually, it’s the most popular cannabis podcast on iTunes right now. Matthew Kind covers many topics in this podcast, from legalization to cannabis tourism to how to become a cannabis entrepreneur.

His guests come from all cannabis walks of life, which means listeners can learn a thing or two from cultivators, entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, investors and seed manufacturers. It’s an all-round, go-to cannabis podcast.

3. Brave New Weed

Brave New Weed is a podcast that covers the lesser-known information about cannabis without dumbing it down. The cannabis world is pretty rife with toilet humour and information that doesn’t really hit the nail on the head.

But Brave New Weed’s mission, according to the makers, is to “enable you to know the smartest, boldest, wildest people from all the walks of life who have an abiding interest in this interesting plant”.

Expect to learn things about cooking with cannabis, politics, science, and legalization.

4. Weedsday Wednesday!

Weedsday Wednesday! is the O.G of cannabis podcasts. Refusing to go up in smoke – Belle Starr & The Cannabis Kid have released weekly episodes since August of 2012. Making this the longest cannabis podcast of all time – it might just be older than your favorite strain of weed.

You can expect a grass roots radio/podcast hybrid where listeners are encouraged to call in live and chat about anything weed! This quirky podcast has the credentials when it comes to cannabis current events, strain reviews and medicinal cannabis information.

5. Cannabis Cultivation & Science

For those who love to research cannabis as much as they love to smoke it, Tad Hussey has you covered. Cannabis Cultivation & Science is mainly about cultivation and the science behind it – obviously.

Hussey brings on all kinds of guests who are geniuses when it comes to the science of cultivation and yield. In one podcast, he brought in the world record holder for the biggest pumpkins ever grown. And yes, on that show, they’re talking about how to maximize yield of cannabis plants.

6. Cannabis Business Minds

For those interested in the business aspect of the cannabis industry, “Cannabis Business Minds” is a podcast that offers in-depth discussions on various challenges and opportunities facing the industry. Hosted by Simone Cimiluca-Radzins, a consultant and entrepreneur in the cannabis industry, the podcast explores a wide range of topics, including finance, marketing, and legal issues.

With insightful interviews featuring prominent figures in the cannabis industry, “Cannabis Business Minds” provides a valuable resource for anyone looking to keep up with the latest developments in the rapidly evolving cannabis business landscape.

7. High Friends

Women of cannabis, this podcast is for you. High Friends was created for and hosted by women who love weed. That doesn’t mean that men can’t enjoy this podcast too. After all, the show is just loaded with women who have been extremely influential in the world of cannabis, whether it’s entrepreneurship, research or otherwise.

The podcast hosts have discussed craft cannabis, becoming a cannabis sommelier, and interviewed a mother wanting to treat her son with medical cannabis.

This podcast was cancelled, but there’s something about a finite catalogue of episodes that can lower the threshold of diving in.

8. Snoop Dogg’s GGN News Desk

It’s hard to tell what came first: weed or Snoop Dogg? All J’s aside – hip-hops most iconic artist brought weed culture to the forefront of the mainstream. So, let’s puff, puff, pass to your new favorite podcast – because the godfather of rap is bringing you something to wake and bake too. You can now pencil in #puffpufftuesdays to your weekly schedule.

Snoops Dogg’s GGN podcast follows a tongue and cheek question-and-answer-format and it’s hilarious! Want to know what superpower Seth Rogan would choose? Or if pro-skateboarder Tony Hawk thinks skating has an age limit?

With each episode no longer than 20 minutes you can easily binge this podcast and it’s pretty cool getting to know Snoop Dogg on a more personal level. It’s packed with hilarious stoner stories, dope hip-hop sound bites, and freestyles from Snoop himself.

9. Great Moments in Weed History with Abdullah and Bean

Finally – a cannabis podcast that’s completely balanced. If you want things to be funny but don’t want to compromise on good quality information, check out Great Moments in Weed History with Abdullah and Bean. It doesn’t matter what the topic of the day is, it’s always linked with history, its role in history and historical figures. Abdullah and Jean even talk about Jesus in one of these podcasts. It’s only been running since March of 2018, which means it should be easy to catch up on this podcast!

A good cannabis podcast should, without any doubt, be paired with a strong joint. Some of these podcasts go for two or three hours, just the perfect time to match your high.

Do yourself a favour and turn off the television – it’s full of advertisements anyway. You’re better off using your high to enjoy one of these podcasts, to have a laugh and to learn something new. Enjoy our suggestions, and of course… add your own in the comments!

Seems crazy to me that the Dope as Yola Podcast didn’t get listed, considering how he pulls in guests like Josh Kesselmann.

    Sera Jane Ghaly

I like to call myself the traveling gypsy wanderer of the world. Born in Melbourne Australia, but reborn just about everywhere else in the world. I have a healthy obsession with words and languages, using them as a vehicle to navigate this multi-dimensional human experience. My enthusiasm for marijuana started in the USA, and since then I’ve been traveling the world with the herb as my inspiration. Sweet Mary Jane has led me to shamanic ceremonies in the Amazon all the way to smoking ganja with the Babas in India.
