How to Make Your Own Cannabis Lube

How to Make Cannabis Lube – a Recipe - WeedSeedShop

At WeedSeedShop, we’re always looking for new ways to use all of that awesome cannabis that you’ve been growing. And making cannabis lube at home is the perfect way to use all those extra buds. Especially if you want to spice things up in the bedroom! In this article, you can learn how to make your own cannabis lubricant at home!

Are you ready to get your private bits tingling with cannabis sensations? Maybe it sounds a little bit strange, and maybe it is somewhat strange to go rubbing weed on your genitals.

But cannabis lube is no laughing matter. It’s a much more pleasurable one. And it’s completely unnecessary to shop online covertly for such items. You can make your very own cannabis lubricant!

Perhaps this product is not really for the one-night stand kind of sexual encounter. It requires making an oil-based lubricant, which condoms do not like. And we’re definitely advocates for safe sex.

So, you should either save this one for foreplay or work it into your baby making scheme. Ahh, a baby conceived at the hands of cannabis. Did anything ever sound sweeter?

What’s the science behind cannabis lube?

You might be asking yourself why anyone would go so far as to make a cannabis-based lubricant. OK – so this special kind of lube might not be entirely lubricating, but it definitely adds an extra element to the sexual experience.

The creator of BOND Sensual Oil told some interviewers about the science behind their product. THC actually dilates the smallest capillaries in the body (which is why it’s so good at treating glaucoma, by the way) and that includes those in the genitals.

The dilation of blood vessels causes increased blood circulation in the areas we like it the most, such as the extremities and genitals. The effect is the same if it is applied topically, only it doesn’t cure glaucoma – it just makes blood rush to your private parts. Yes – cannabis can actually induce sexual arousal for these reasons. While smoking weed adds to your sex life, so can applying it topically!

So, while you might not find cannabis lube super slimy and wet like traditional lubricants, you might find that they get all of the “natural” juice flowing, if you know what I mean. Cannabis lube is good for something like foreplay, let’s say. And if you want to throw a condom on, you’ll have to wait until the oily stuff has been absorbed by the skin to avoid damage to the latex.

Cannabis is not just for potheads, but for those who like to experiment in many different ways. Although it doesn’t actually get you high, it works by other very interesting means. And what a way to get to know what weed can do. So, if you’re not shy to get intimate with cannabis lube, there are a number of different ways you can whip some up. Let’s jump straight into it.

Choosing your oil

As many cannabis connoisseurs know, cannabinoids need something fatty to dissolve in. Unfortunately, THC simply won’t dissolve in water, and that’s why the base of your lubricant needs to be an oil.

Remember, this recipe is going to be rubbed all over the most sensitive parts of your own and your partner’s body. So, it’s important to choose something gentle and natural when deciding which oil to use. We recommend using coconut oil or sweet almond oil. Both are nourishing, gentle and fatty enough to absorb the cannabinoids from your buds. Especially coconut oil is known to make for an excellent lube.

Alternatively, you can use olive oil, flaxseed oil or grapeseed oil if any of them appeal to you. They are thicker in texture than almond oil, although coconut oil will make your lubricant the thickest.

Tip: You can always try some of these oils as lubes before infusing them with cannabis, to see which one of them fits you best!

Add aloe vera gel to make it extra slippery

Now, sweet almond and coconut oil have palatable flavours. If you want to add aloe vera for the slippery aspect, we don’t recommend putting your mouth anywhere near it. It might take all of the fun out of using cannabis lubricant, because it definitely isn’t tasty.

However, aloe vera does add the slippery aspect that most people are looking for in a good lubricant. It is slimy, wet and harmless to put on genitals.

The method for DIY cannabis lube

So, now you’re ready. You’ve decided which oil you’re going to infuse your cannabis into. And hopefully you’ve decided if you’re going to opt for the slippery aloe option. Please, adapt this recipe to suit your own personal needs. You can omit parts or add the aloe option as you wish, and you can also interchange the oil in this recipe for any one that you decide to use.

For this recipe, we are going to use the following ingredients:

  • ¼ cup cannabis infused coconut oil (which we’ll teach you how to make)
  • ¼ cup 100% pure aloe vera gel
  • 10 drops of vitamin E oil

Before you actually assemble all the parts to make the lubricant itself, you will have to make some cannabis infused coconut oil. This is super easy, albeit time consuming.

How to infuse your coconut oil

  • Start by decarboxylating your cannabis. This will begin the process of releasing the cannabinoids. To learn exactly how to decarboxylate, read our article about it!
  • Then, using a slow cooker or double boiler method, cook your decarboxylated buds in the coconut oil (or oil of your choice) for 4-12 hours. Don’t let your oil boil or burn. This is the benefit of using a slow cooker. If you’re using the double boiler method, you will need to check on it regularly. The longer you boil your buds for, the stronger your cannabis infused coconut oil will be.
  • After at least four hours, you can turn the heat off. Strain the buds out of the oil. They will retain some of the oil, so you can give the strained buds a good squeeze to get as much out as possible.
  • Let your oil cool down.

How to make the lubricant:

If you just want to make a really simple lubricant and don’t have all the ingredients, you can simply use it as it is. The same goes if you’re using sweet almond oil. Sweet almond and coconut oil have nice tastes and will work just fine to get your genitals excited, although they might not produce much in the way of lubrication.

For a wetter, slimier more lubey lubricant, simply blend all the ingredients together in a food processor (the cannabis oil, aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil). This recipe makes for a very thick, slimy kind of lubricant. But one that isn’t very tasty

The main disclaimer is to avoid adding anything to the recipe that you would never rub directly on your genitals. It might be tempting to add strawberry jam to make it delicious, but putting sugars on private parts is a recipe for infections.

Have fun with this product! Maybe you can use cannabis lubricant to keep things interesting between you and your partner. Or perhaps you’re just downright curious. That is also a good enough reason!
