There are many ways to ingest cannabis, and some are more health conscious than others. If you are the kind of person who uses weed to stay healthy and well, then this is the perfect DIY article for you. In this article, you will learn how to make your own cannabis capsules just using your materials at home and your favourite strain of cannabis.
To add to the myriad of ways that one can ingest cannabis, there are also cannabis capsules. This article is going to be a step-by-step guide to making your own little capsules full of cannabis oil to use for whatever and whenever you need. So, why would you even want to make your own cannabis capsules? Somewhat like a miracle pill, ingesting a cannabis capsule is just like eating a brownie or hitting a vaporizer, but in a far more potent form. In fact, you can make your cannabis capsules as strong as you like.
Ingesting cannabis orally is probably the most health conscious way to do so, and ingesting through a cannabis capsule provides a whole range of health benefits to the body. It is also a really discreet way to consume cannabis if you have to be a little more secretive about your consumption. There’s no paraphernalia that you need to ingest it, and there are no fumes. Ingesting it orally also ensures a longer-lasting high than most other ways of ingesting it. This is the most ideal way of ingesting cannabis if it is being used to treat pain, because the duration of the treatment in the case of pain is worth more. This is especially true because they happen to be very potent capsules.
They are made by infusing either buds, kief, or hash into coconut oil and concentrating it. The concentrated oil is then put into the capsules and they are literally ready for consumption. The body absorbs just as many health benefits from the ingestion of the coconut oil than it does from the cannabinoids. So, infusing your cannabis into coconut oil for consumption is an extremely conscious way to get the health properties from both constituent parts.
Cannabinoids, coconut oil, and lauric acid
Taking a cannabis capsule as an alternative to smoking is a much more desirable method of ingestion, especially for those taking cannabis therapeutically. It is also worth mentioning that infusing with coconut oil allows for the liver to receive it much easier, which means faster processing. Although THC and other cannabinoids are not soluble in water, they are soluble in fat, and coconut is used because of the amount of fatty acid it contains. The essential fatty acids, which happen to be the ones that are also really good for you, are great binding agents for all of the medicinal things in the cannabis plant.
Coconut oil also has other amazing health benefits. It contains a fatty acid that is otherwise difficult to find in nature and is extremely good for the human body. Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, and this compound alone is sometimes used as medicine because of its healing properties. It is used to treat infections and viruses, the common cold, and influenza. It is even used to treat bronchitis and yeast infections.
Cannabis, on the other hand, can be used to treat any number of things. The cannabinoids present in cannabis, including THC, can be used to treat epilepsy, cancer, pain, and anxiety. These are only to name a few. Different strains are better for different conditions, and you can choose your strain depending on what you are going to be using these capsules for. You can also use this method to make many different batches of cannabis capsules with all of your different strains.
So, infusing cannabis into coconut oil is an extremely healthy thing to do for your body without having to smoke or taste anything. It is easy for the body to digest and process, and the health benefits are countless.
The method
Remember, you can use any kind of weed you like in this method, and you can use as much as you like. For the sake of these instructions, the measurement will be 1.5 grams of cannabis buds, or 1 gram if you are using hash or kief. It will make 12 capsules.
For this particular recipe, 1 capsule will be enough for strong pain relief. Two capsules will give a 4- to 6-hour strong effect for the regular user. Three capsules induce an extremely strong effect and this is probably not recommended before a dinner party or before going to work. Remember, extracting the THC into coconut oil makes it very potent, but your volume of weed is up to you.
Everything you’re going to need:
- A slow cooker
- Size 00 gelatine capsules. How many you buy will depend on how many you would like to make
- A metal egg cup
- A teaspoon
- A pipette or syringe for filling up the capsules
- 1.5 grams of buds that have no stems or seeds (or 1 gram of hash if you are using that)
- 7 grams, or 1 1/2 teaspoons of coconut oil
- If you don’t have a slow cooker, that’s okay. You can use a pan. The way to get this right is through the extraction process. If you cook it too hot, you risk losing potency to evaporation. If you cook it too low, you won’t extract all of the cannabinoids in the buds. If you succeed, your capsules will be strong enough to make 1.5 grams go 12 hits instead of two joints.
How to do it
Put your oil into the metal egg cup. It is suggested to use the metal egg cup because 7 grams of coconut oil and 1.5 grams of cannabis don’t take up so much space. Given the size of these pans and slow cookers, it is more sensible to use something smaller to contain the ingredients.
Put your egg cup in the slow cooker. Slow cookers typically have a low setting heat of 80-90 degrees centigrade. Allow the coconut oil to melt, then add your cannabis. Slow cookers usually have a timer and will maintain the temperature so you can set them and walk away. Leave buds in there for 2 hours, hash for 1 hour.
If you are using a pan, fill it 3/4 way with water. You are going to rest your egg cup (or a mixing bowl) on the top of the water so that it is floating. You should also use a lid here to cover the egg cup or mixing bowl to avoid losing any THC through evaporation. Put your buds in after the oil has melted and leave it over the water for the same times indicated above. The water should be just simmering beneath.
Allow your oil to cool down for a few minutes before filling your capsules so that you don’t run the risk of melting your capsules. Using the syringe or pipette, evenly distribute your oil into the 12 capsules. Make sure to squeeze as much oil out of the residue of buds and to scrape the egg cup for residual oil, too. You can also put the rest of the mixture in the fridge and then scrape the residual oil with a knife the following day if it’s difficult to get it all out. Your capsules are literally ready for consumption!
Thank you for this information i am only interested in the medical treatment benifits .
