The festive season is upon us. Now for some of us, that means an empty bank account and high stress levels. The good news is, there is one person you can invite into your life during the holiday season that is unlikely to add to your stresses: Mary-Jane is always coming to the party to lighten things up and put a smile on everybody’s face.
Cannabis never discriminates, so it doesn’t matter what religion you are or what holiday you celebrate, she’s always ready for a celebration. Mary-Jane is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Hannukah, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year. We’ve compiled some creative ways you can invite weed to the party. For all those who think it’s not a party without “her”, keep reading!
Cannabis Pumpkin Pie (or any canna-baked goods)
Whether it’s Halloween or Christmas, it doesn’t matter. Everyone knows that pumpkin is one of the most festive vegetables on the menu. Winter just got warmer with cannabis pumpkin pie! It’s easy and it doesn’t need much. Of course, the special ingredient is your favourite strain of weed. In case you don’t know how to make cannabutter, all you have to do is soak your buds in butter and simmer for up to 15 hours on low heat (after decarboxylating, of course).
For this recipe, you’ll need ¼ cup of cannabutter, 2 beaten eggs, ¼ cup of sweetened condensed milk, 1 teaspoon of molasses, 1 teaspoon of nutmeg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, ¼ cup of brown sugar and canned pumpkin. You can buy a pie crust from any supermarket around. If you’re a self-proclaimed chef, you could probably make your own, too.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Start by mixing the ingredients, but very importantly: mix the cannabutter in last. When it’s all mixed in, pour it into the pie crust and bake for 50 minutes. You can add cream or even ice cream – let your heart guide the way.
Your baking doesn’t have to end at pumpkin pie. Once you’ve got cannabutter, you can turn it into any of your favourite baked goods. You can make cookies, or cake, or even brownies! Now you’re ready to serve the perfect dessert after your holiday dinner!
Merry Marijuanukkah with the Menorah Joint
There’s Hanukkah and there’s Marijuanukkah. You can invite Mary-Jane to celebrate Hanukkah with you with the Menorah joint. This is tailored for the seasoned joint roller. It is essentially made out of two joints to form the “T” shape of the Menorah, and then eight more, smaller joints are rolled to represent the 8 candles of the Menorah. Be creative. You can draw a Star of David in hash oil on your Menorah joint, too!
A friend with weed is a friend indeed!
Some of us are more compelled to participate in the nature of giving during the holiday season. In 2015, a Colorado charity group went around giving free weed to all the homeless people. They pre-rolled 1,000 joints and made it a very Merry Christmas for the less fortunate in Colorado. So if you’re not entertaining this year, but still want some company, why not step out and share the holiday cheer with those who can’t afford a bag? Make sure you don’t give it to under 21s and only in a place where cannabis is legal…
Gift ideas for your stoner friends and family
While we’re in the spirit of gift giving, a good way to complete the cannabis circle is to personalize the gifts you give. If you have friends that are also cannabis enthusiasts, then why not tailor a gift to suit them? Here are some gift ideas that are great for stoners!
1. A Chocolate Box Full of Weed?
If you’re feeling creatively stunted right now, this makes an easy and welcomed gift. Roll up some buds in some chocolate wrappers and fill up the box. Put it in their favourite chocolate box! It will be a neat surprise for someone who thinks they’re about to unwrap some chocolates!
2. Joint Rolling Machine
Know someone who’s terrible at rolling? Give them the classic joint rolling machine. It’s cheap and it will probably make them laugh!
3. Smoking paraphernalia
You can never go wrong by gift giving a bong, or a pipe or a kit full of all kinds of smoking paraphernalia. No stoner is ever disappointed when they unwrap a bong or vaporizer (especially if it’s already packed). You can make a fully equipped pack, with papers, buds, scissors and anything else you can think of that a stoner requires.
4. Weed Seeds
Do you have a friend who has been talking about growing their own plant for ages, but has never actually got around to it? Weed seeds make a perfect gift because they give someone all the inspiration they need to start growing!
Weed vacations
If you’ve decided that you’ve just had enough of where you live this holiday season, you can always take a weed vacation! Cannabis tourism is a real thing across the world these days and you can choose a holiday destination that is perfect for a weed-filled holiday!
1. Uruguay
Since Uruguay legalized cannabis in 2014, it has been a popular destination for cannabis lovers. The country has become completely weed friendly and it is being distributed by the government at super cheap prices.
2. Amsterdam
Amsterdam has been the mecca for cannabis lovers for a long time. In its coffee shops you can buy smokeables and eatables. Its alleyways and canal allow for the perfect romantic weed holiday, alone or tandem!
3. The Irie Islands of Jamaica in the Caribbean
Jamaica is well-known for its cannabis culture. The Irie islands are famous for enormous joints that are shared openly on the streets. Once you’ve had your smoke, you can wander down to the beach and enjoy the Caribbean Sea.
